Telecommunications company
Powwownow and three celebrities have set the record for the world’s longest conference call, trebling traffic levels to the Powwownow website.
The
experiential marketing stunt took place on Thursday and Friday last week (30th Sept-1st Oct). Throughout the duration of the campaign traffic was up 200% to both
www.upforathreewaycall.co.uk and
www.powwownow.co.uk - with 19,000 unique visits and 35,000 page views.
Using Powwownow’s free conference calling technology, cricketing legend Phil Tufnell, glamour model
Jodie Marsh and comedian Patrick Monahan talked for 24 hours without a break.
Powwownow carried out the activity to highlight the cost saving and green benefits of conference calling over business travel. Recent research has found that less than 50% of UK business people see conference calling as a viable alternative to meeting face to face.
CEO Andrew Pearce commented: ‘Whilst this was a fun marketing stunt there was a serious message behind it; we want people to understand that if you can’t meet for any reason then conference calls represent a brilliant alternative. They are a greener option than travelling to a meeting and also save businesses time and money.
Conference calling technology is amazing now and with free web conferencing from Yuuguu you needn’t ever leave the office again!’
